About Me


Laura A. Schulz is a Arizona Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in child, adult and family therapy. Laura obtained a graduate degree from Prescott College in Counseling/Psychology. She also earned a post-graduate certificate from the Harris Institute in Clinical Infant/Early Childhood/Family Mental Health.

Prior to becoming a therapist Laura worked, for over 10 years in the field of occupational therapy, with special needs children between the ages 0-21. She has worked extensively in the school systems and is familiar with special education law as established by the federal government. As a Developmental Specialist, she has also assessed children, 0-3, in all areas of development.

She began her career as a counselor by providing services through the Yavapai Family Advocacy Center in Prescott Valley, AZ. She coordinated services with Child Protective Services, Law Enforcement, Forensic Nurses and Victim Advocates to assist families and children suffering from sexual and physical abuse.

Laura worked as Project Coordinator on the Prescott Valley Domestic Violence Project for over four years. She was instrumental in developing and coordinating projects to serve victims of domestic violence in her local community.

Laura is a regional supervisor for Smart Support, a program funded by First Things First, she supervises master level early childhood mental health consultants in their work in early care settings.

Laura teaches psychology, sociology and human services courses, as adjunct faculty, for several universities.

Laura has facilitated many trainings on special education law, life skills for special needs children, trauma and abuse and infant and early childhood mental health.
